This chapter introduces three civilizations that preceded Earth's human civilization, with the focus on the second civilization, Lumania. The Lumanians were founded by a fringe group from the first civilization, who attempted to eliminate violence through physiological modification and developed sound technology and multisensory art, but failed and died out because their energy was blocked and their fear was not removed. Their psychic legacy still influences people today, and different probable realities coexist.

This chapter revolves around "systems of probability": every thought and every unchosen action is actually realized in other realities; psychic acts are the essence of reality. Probable selves, probable earths, and probable gods exist simultaneously, and the soul is a multidimensional process of becoming. All systems of reality exist at once and are open to one another, and probable selves communicate through dreams, inspiration, and telepathy. Physical atoms also exist simultaneously in different systems, and past, present, and future all occur at once; time is only an illusion.
