Lesson 9

Good and Evil, Symbols, and the Stages of Consciousness

For Seth "evil" is a distortion, not an entity; symbols are how consciousness speaks across its levels; and consciousness itself has many reachable stages.

This path is arranged by hand, not recommended by an algorithm. Concept entries are AI syntheses, the commentary is Mike's own teaching, original text appears only as excerpts, and the notes under "Think it over" are the editor's.

Read first

  • symbols符号

Symbols are physical or mental representations that express inner spiritual reality, serving as multidimensional psychic particles that contain experience and transmit energy.AI entry (cross-book synthesis)

  • levels of consciousness意识层面

The various states and stages through which consciousness perceives multidimensional reality, blending into one another and being unified and directed by the inner self.AI entry (cross-book synthesis)

  • present现在

The "present" is the point of power where multidimensional consciousness focuses, serving as a creative intersection where the past and future simultaneously exist and are continuously reshaped.AI entry (cross-book synthesis)

  • Chapter 17Probabilities, the Nature of Good and Evil, and Religious SymbolismMike's commentary

This chapter points out that development is not a single-line ascent, but rather the soul unfolding from its center in all directions; good and evil are not opposites, evil does not exist, and the devil and hell are illusions projected by fear and belief. Religious symbols such as Christ's ascension and crucifixion were set up for the perceptual mode of humanity at that time, while Buddhism comes closer to the essence of reality but does not grasp the eternal validity of the soul. Speakers transmit inner knowledge at all levels of consciousness through symbols and dreams; consciousness has multiple levels, and the stages of sleep correspond to different activities in reality. People can learn to shift the focus of consciousness, solve problems in dreams, and promote healing.

  • Chapter 18Stages of Consciousness, Symbols, and Multiple FocusMike's commentary

All levels of consciousness converge within the personality. Consciousness can turn outward or inward, fluctuate and shift its focus; different levels of consciousness appear with different symbols, from surface material images, fantasies, and dreams to the deep symbol-free pure feeling. The physical world, the body, and sound itself are also symbols; personal experience is stored as a "symbol bank" that needs to be activated. The alpha state is a transitional state between the physically oriented self and the inner self, and can serve as a launching pad for exploring other levels of consciousness. Symbols flow and change; fear can restrict their meaning, and blank points can accommodate new symbols.

  • Chapter 19Alternative "Now" and Multiple FocusMike's commentary

Chapter 19 starts from the different stages of consciousness, treating consciousness as an attribute or tool of the soul, and explains that by shifting focus one can enter different levels. Horizontally there are A1 and A1-A, A1-B, A1-C, which allow exploration of personal, group, and civilizational possibilities; vertically there are A2 through A6, involving past lives, planets, concepts, cross-time communication, and so on. The emphasis is on introducing the A1 level and A1-A for observing the body, thoughts and emotions, healing, and rehearsing future decisions, and on explaining fluctuations of consciousness, memory systems, and agent consciousness.

Think it over

Decide for yourself whether each statement is right, then open the note.

  • Seth acknowledges an independent power of evil opposed to good.

    False

He explains "evil" as misunderstanding and distortion of being; the devil is an image projected by human belief.Editor

  • The same symbol can mean different things at different levels of consciousness.

    True

Hence no universal dream dictionary; chapter 18 teaches how to track your own symbols.Editor

Take it to Seth

“Seth, how do I tell whether a thought comes from a higher level of consciousness or is just my imagination?”
