Approximately 60 mediums, 600 independent readings, at least 3 centers, lasting 18–24 months; pre-registered target selection, item-by-item factual scoring, and a single primary endpoint, with strict separation of recruitment, interviewing, data custody, and blind raters; archival verification instead of mere subjective matching by relatives; and randomized comparison of feedback training versus no feedback. In addition, a prospective registry of privately recorded pre-death targets will be established, with at least several hundred volunteers followed for 5–10 years and tested for target recovery after death; this would strengthen source constraints but still cannot exclude all alternative source hypotheses on the basis of hit rate alone.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
Contact with the deceased is an explicit source assertion, but trial and error and individual differences lack quantitative boundaries; if every failure can be attributed to state or matching issues, it becomes indistinguishable from chance performance.
