First define separately body self-recognition, interoception, environmental safety, and existential entitlement. Conduct a longitudinal study of about 300 infants from birth to age 3, repeatedly measuring heartbeat-synchrony discrimination, EEG heartbeat-evoked potentials, preference for body-synchronous stimuli, and safe exploration; additionally study body cues and safe exploration in 2–3 animal species, about 60 per species. This design can test early bodily perception and its development but cannot directly adjudicate whether animals have a normative sense of existential entitlement, nor can early emergence alone establish innateness.
