Introduction

This session concludes Volume 2 of The "Unknown" Reality. Seth says that no book can make the unknown reality entirely known to people; at most it can awaken subjective states of mind and exercise intuitive and psychic abilities. He reminds us not to look for clean answers, but to form new questions; issues such as Atlantis and UFOs require first understanding the tendencies of one's own consciousness. Finally, he points out: the unknown reality is yourself; do not accept the labels others stick on you, but directly experience the originality of life.

Key Points of This Chapter

  • No book can make the unknown reality entirely known; this book can only evoke subjective states of mind and exercise intuitive and psychic abilities.
  • Do not look for neat and tidy answers or apply old frameworks; instead, form new and appropriate questions.
  • Questions about Atlantis, the Bermuda Triangle, UFOs, and the like must first involve understanding yourself and your own tendencies of consciousness; otherwise they will remain mysteries.
  • The unknown reality is yourself; if you do not know yourself, you do not know the world, nor do you know the reality you perceive.
  • Do not accept the labels others paste onto you; directly experience the originality of life and the originality of every moment.

Main Text

Session 743: You Are the Unknown Reality

Today I'll continue introducing Session 743 of Volume 2 of the Seth book The "Unknown" Reality. The title of this session is "You Are the Unknown Reality." This session began on Monday, April 21, 1975, at 9:46 p.m.1

Rob started out by saying that he had read Jane the last portion of last Wednesday's session from his notes. Jane said she again had that wistful, uncomfortable feeling that Seth would soon be finishing this book, especially after hearing the material just before the discussion of Atlantis. She had not had that feeling during the session itself, but she had it now.

Jane said she knew it had been said before that this book began when they wanted to move, and now that they were settled in a new place, this was a good time to end the book.

When this book first began, the two of them were already thinking about looking for a house. A few sessions after it began, they went to look at that house of Searle's, the one belonging to Mr. Mark, but at the time they never bought it. More than a year later, just in the last two months, they finally decided to buy a south-facing hillside house west of Elmira.

Both of them had very accurate feelings. Then Seth said that the content of this session--

No book, no book called The "Unknown" Reality, can make that reality entirely known.

Seth meant that there is no book such as The "Unknown" Reality that can make that so-called unknown reality entirely understood by people. This is much like what the Buddha said at the end: "For forty-five years I have not spoken anything2, I have not transmitted any teaching." Why would he say that? This sentence is actually the core and theme of this entire session--if you still remain at the level of understanding through books and knowledge, then you are taking it too simply, understanding it too simply.

This unknown reality keeps a nebula-like haziness, because in consciousness it has not been realized.

The so-called unknown reality is not anything manifested in our physical world; what is manifested is what we have already decided. Those undecided, unrealized, probable realities, those unknown realities--because they have not been realized by our consciousness--so they remain as hazy as a nebula.

In simple terms, speaking in a scientific context, it is like a quantum-state existence--all possibilities are within it, all exist in this unknown reality. Whichever one you want to manifest, whichever wave function you want to collapse, and with whichever variable it collapses, it will collapse in that variable; before it collapses, it is a mixture of all states. Seth used the phrase "a nebula-like haziness."

Actually, the most I can do is just point out those relatively invisible regions, to help you explore the different aspects of your own consciousness.

The most I can do is tell you roughly where they are, let you see, "Oh, there is something there." You should not think there is nothing there; there is something there. Then let you see that your consciousness has many levels and many dimensions. I can only let you see these.

This book was written to help you, from a different perspective, practice your own intuitive and psychic abilities.

From a certain angle, this book is meant to train your intuitive and psychic nature. Through this practice, through this different perspective, it improves these two abilities. When you have such intuitive ability and psychic nature in your life, you will be able to sense and observe the clues of that unknown reality's existence, and then you will begin a new exploration.

In a certain way, it is meant to familiarize you with those components of your own reality that you may not have been aware of.

It lets you discover the part of your own reality that you have not been aware of.

And it introduces you to a certain subjective frame of mind that is automatically aroused because of the way this book was produced.

He said, when you understand how this book came into being--through Seth, Jane, Seth dictating through Jane in this way--and Seth himself is not a person in our reality. For us in the physical world, Seth himself is an unknown reality; in other words, Seth himself comes from the unknown reality. When you understand how this book came into being, you will arouse a subjective frame of mind.

What subjective frame of mind? What does it mean? It means you can discover that this world is subjective, not objective. In an objective world, you feel that everything is passive, that everything has been arranged by others, that everything has been set up by the universe; this is called a passive, objective frame of mind. A subjective frame of mind is when you feel that this world is created by yourself.

Seth means that if I can get you to arouse your own subjective frame of mind, and then let you explore your own inner reality, or the unperceived part of your own reality, then this book will have accomplished one of its important meanings.

But beyond that, it also contains what you might call hints, things that will automatically open up greater levels of your own awareness, and thus bring some recognition of the unknown reality in which you exist into your conscious life.

Of course this book contains a great deal of content, with many hints. These hints can remind you in your daily life of things you ordinarily do not notice. Because you have studied and read it, you will have a feeling: "Oh, behind this there may actually be other things--a support from such an unknown reality, or a probable reality." Then, in this way, those unknown realities and probable realities are brought into the level of your conscious awareness.

That subject itself entices your imagination.

This idea itself--this thinking about the unknown reality and probable realities--will itself entice your imagination. You will think, what would it be like if I took that action? Before, you only said this was useless, that thinking about it was just thinking. But now you are different; you will find it is not useless. That reality also really happens--in another reality space, there is another you who is doing the thing you thought of but did not do.

But you did not think about what the consequences would be. Now, if you are asked to imagine along such a probable path, it is helpful and influential for your present life. Because if you can use your imagination to follow along with the experience within that unchosen path, you can gain some new insights and understanding, which are also helpful for the path you have already chosen; it is not useless.

Then that intuitive ability will illuminate the intellect.

That intuitiveness--when you use your imagination in this way--is it not meant to expand your intuitiveness, to exercise your intuitiveness? Your intuition of this probable reality, your keen intuitive ability, will illuminate your intellect. The intellect is your logical thinking ability, the rational part. It will allow our thinking capacity to receive its light.

So that your intellectual ability learns to ask questions in a way that is broader, more exciting, and more productive than it used before.

It will let you ask questions more effectively, bring you great curiosity, and stimulate your desire for knowledge. This is one of the main functions of this book. It challenges your existing knowledge and logical thinking, giving you great curiosity to do this. But in doing this, it asks you to ask meaningful, productive, exciting, and broad questions, not peripheral questions, or questions that you merely think are very reasonable.

I am well aware that this book will arouse many questions in you, far more than it answers.

I am well aware that this is my purpose, this is my intention; I want to do exactly this. A truly good teacher does not give you answers; he stimulates your curiosity, stimulates your thirst for knowledge, and lets you explore on your own. This is what Confucius taught us two thousand five hundred years ago3, and it is called heuristic education.

I have spoken before about the core of heuristic education: "qi" and "fa" must occur at two different points in time. What is "qi"? It is when in your heart you understand, but you cannot say it; when you are just about to understand but still do not understand, in that state I give you a little "qi." What is "fa"? It is when in your heart you understand but cannot say it--when you understand in your heart but cannot yet organize it effectively in language--at that time I give you a little "fa." A teacher actually plays such a role, rather than telling you the answers. Eagerly handing you the answers as if it were a very important thing is actually the most foolish method of education. This kind of answer-giving, spoon-feeding education is thought to be very efficient, but it is actually the least efficient method.

When you finish this book, you may come away with more questions than answers.

He said this is very good; this is the effect I want.

The degree to which the unknown reality becomes known depends upon the degree to which you form new questions, and forget those old frameworks reflected by the myths that automatically provide answers.

He said, to what extent can you turn the unknown reality into the known? It depends on how you ask questions. And after asking that question, you cannot use old framework knowledge or old belief systems to answer it; you have to answer and examine that question anew from a completely new perspective and angle. Only after you do these two things well can your exploration of the unknown reality progress day by day and improve.

So here, asking the right questions is a critical point. You have to form new questions; you have to have questions. Having no questions is not right. But your questions should not be answered by ready-made answers--for example, if current human scientific knowledge tells you what the answer to this question is, you must not adopt that; you must answer it in a new way. Then, in the process of such new questions and new answers, you begin to explore the unknown reality, and you will make it more and more known.

If this book is useful, then many old questions will be seen as relatively meaningless, because they were not formed after true and intimate contact with basic questions; they are only reactions to old dogmas.

This sentence is also very important. If you have truly understood this book, and if this book is truly effective, then you will not ask those seemingly meaningless questions. Many people ask these meaningless questions without realizing it; they feel that these questions really trouble them. The reason is that you have not yet seen through this book. After you understand it, the questions you ask will rise to a higher level, to a higher perspective; you will not ask those most ordinary, seemingly reasonable questions--to put it bluntly, you will not ask these questions from a three-dimensional perspective. Because questions asked from a three-dimensional perspective are all rather meaningless. You have not even touched the real problem--you have not even touched the problem, so do not even talk about finding the answer; you do not even know how to ask a question.

For example, suppose you want to challenge quantum mechanics; how do you challenge it? How do you frame the question? When you still cannot understand quantum mechanics, you cannot ask valuable questions. You will then ask: Is Schrodinger's cat dead or alive4? You ask such questions. Or you ask: What if the cat gives birth to a litter of kittens inside? Do not ask that kind of question. Then you are still far from reality; the question itself has no value to answer, because you have not made contact with the basic question at all, and you have asked an invalid question.

Appropriate questions about the unknown reality will automatically bring more of the unknown reality into your experience.

Here the phrase "appropriate questions" is crucial. If you asked many questions while studying Seth Speaks, the earlier material, and The Nature of Personal Reality, that is normal, because at that stage you had just come into contact with this Seth material and this spiritual knowledge; you had a great many questions to ask, because many things overturned your understanding. If, after following the Seth material up to this point, you still stand in a three-dimensional perspective and ask questions that only exist in three-dimensional consciousness, I am basically unwilling to answer them, because they are meaningless.

But if a question really troubles you, there are two ways. The first is to carefully read the book again. The second is to find some fellow students, people who study with you, and ask them; they may have already considered this question and have better answers. If such questions are very representative, I am willing to answer everyone; if it is only your personal question, something you have not understood or grasped, then go think it over with classmates, or study some of this content further on your own.

But many questions you think were not answered in this book have actually been answered, but from a different angle.

He said, you think many questions in this book were not thoroughly explained or clearly stated, but they were actually answered, only answered from a different angle; you just did not see it.

The answer is presented in such a way that it will entice you into further creative thinking.

When you think this book has many unanswered questions, it has actually answered them--it answered in a way that leads you to do more creative thinking about the question. He answered your question in a way that keeps you thinking. So you should know that Seth, as a teacher transmitting spiritual knowledge, is very competent and excellent.

To the extent that you do not understand, realize, or experience the many aspects of your own existence, to that extent you are the unknown reality.

Simply put, there are many aspects of your own existence that you do not understand, do not recognize, do not realize, and do not experience. If your realization, understanding, and experience of your own existence are not clear, then it is meaningless to go explore other unknown realities. Why? Because you are the unknown reality; first understand yourself clearly, that is the key. If you have not even understood yourself, and you say you will go explore the outer unknown reality, that is a joke.

As I have always said, the answer lies within yourself, not in the external world.

This is what has always been said: the answer is within you. Many religions also tell you this--the answer lies within yourself; do not seek it outside, the answer is not outside.

But clues may indeed be found there.

From a certain angle, the outer world also has clues. The statement that the answer is not outside does not mean that your exploration of the outer world is closed off, or that you just sit meditating every day and only observe your inner world. That is not so. Clues can be found in the outer world, because outer conditions so perfectly reflect your inner reality--your personal or group experience. So when you explore the outer world, the main point is that what is shown by outer events gives you clues, stimulates intuition, and after that inspiration, it enables you to explore why such a thing exists within you, which then manifests such a world outwardly.

The way this book itself was produced is an excellent example of the unknown reality--if not becoming known, at least being recognized.

This book itself came from the unknown reality. If you understand how this book was produced, you will have a general understanding of how the unknown reality becomes known, because Seth came from that reality of the unknown reality, and he brought his material here. This itself gives you an excellent example of "the unknown reality becoming the known reality."

Do not look for neat answers or clean solutions, because when you do so, your explanation or theory is always too small.

Do not try to find that kind of simple answer, or a neat and clean solution. When you try to do that, the theory you obtain is always too narrow in scope, insufficient for you to explore and understand this unknown reality. This is a misunderstanding many people encounter: many people say, just tell me simply what the truth is, can you explain it clearly in one sentence, or can you make it clear with something simple--it is not that it cannot be explained clearly, nor that it cannot be stated clearly; it is that such explaining and such saying will restrict you, and will make your frame smaller and lower.

To a certain degree, there is always an unknown reality. From a certain angle, there is always an unknown reality. Because of the miraculous workings of your existence, your existence operates beyond the kind of explanation that you often seem to demand.

Why does he say not to seek a simple, clean solution or answer? Because the miracle of your existence itself--this state in which you exist, each of us--your existence itself is a miracle. And the miraculous workings of your existence are far more magical and far higher than the explanation you want.

Let me put it in plain terms: the true reality of each of us, for us, may be an unknown reality. The complete reality of existence is always greater than the explanation we expect, always greater than the explanation we expect. Remember, it is the explanation you want--not that answer, but the answer you can imagine. No matter how you imagine what that answer might be, even setting aside whether such an answer can be given to you, even if you imagine there is an answer that includes all the reality of existence and the miracle of existence that you want to know--the miracle of your existence itself is always greater than what you can imagine.

So do not try to obtain a so-called simple, neat, textbook-like thing that humans can understand and clearly explain. There is none. If someone tells you such a thing exists, that is nonsense, because the miracle of your existence is always greater than it.

Your present answers end up limiting your own experience.

It is precisely because you randomly seek answers and randomly explain that you force explanations onto things that clearly cannot be explained, and then these answers limit your experience. We humans often make this mistake; we forcibly explain many things. Clearly, not knowing should be accepted as not knowing; you could say, I do not know. This is even worse than our ancestors. Our ancestors said, not knowing is not knowing; I do not understand; it is mysterious; there may be some unknown things, some mysterious things that exist--then that is what you should say. But our science puts on an air of knowing everything, wanting to explain everything and measure everything with science. Yet science, before this entire universe and before the whole of reality, is as childish as a small tool.

Seth often says: Do not poke this universe with small tools. Do not poke this universe with your human small tools and expect to obtain truth--you take these things that are like children's toys and try to use them to search for truth.

Because you try to squeeze your subjective actions into the tight boots of preconceived concepts.

You are actually a subjective action--all things are created by you. Then you put it into a very tight little shoe of a concept that you have set up in advance. The answer was originally open, infinite, and subjective, yet you insist on telling it that it is not; you say it must be objective, it must conform to certain laws, it must conform to these physical formulas; anything that does not conform to physical and mathematical formulas is nonsense. Are you joking? From a vast probable reality or universe, you very shallowly obtained some so-called formulas and theories, using your human cognition and three-dimensional perspective, and then you want to apply them back and use them to measure the laws of the whole universe. If they do not fit, you are puzzled, saying what is going on, clearly it is like this, so why does it not work? Then when they do not fit, you force an explanation, not saying that your own laws are the problem, but beginning to explain at random. All of this is wrong.

Seth has actually put forward many very important points here, things that our future development of civilization and science should take as warnings.

Your experience creates new questions, just as a painter creates new paintings.

Your experience is always creating new questions; this is what keeps the universe endlessly alive, and it is normal. Like a painter painting, he is creating his unknown reality.

I know many of you hoped to find in this book answers about Atlantis, the Bermuda Triangle, UFOs, and many other such questions.

He said, I understand that the moment you humans see the name "unknown reality," you wonder whether this book is about these things, always wanting to explore questions on this level and wanting me to give you the answers to these questions. But from Seth's perspective, these do not even count as questions.

As for Atlantis, just look directly at Seth's attitude, and you will know how he regards Bermuda, UFOs, aliens, artificial intelligence, interstellar federations, the Illuminati, dark organizations, and all such things. Why is this so? To put it simply, all these questions of yours, in terms of the dimensions of consciousness, are what is called one-dimensional consciousness. Teacher Xiyu explains this in more detail in the reading: although the question may seem very profound, very unknown, and very mysterious, in essence, from that level, it is meaningless. If consciousness is divided into dimensions, you have asked a question from the lowest dimensional level of consciousness, a question without much meaning.

But in our present society, many people who do so-called spiritual popularization often seize on these things and sensationalize them, because these things really attract attention. Many people like to listen to these things, while they may have relatively little exposure to what can truly open human wisdom and consciousness. This is also a reality and current situation in this society. But all of you readers and listeners who have studied with us up to today should no longer do this. Do not keep discussing whether UFOs exist. Do you think that question has any meaning? You may say, of course it does--but if I tell you that they both exist and do not exist, are you satisfied with that answer? If you are not satisfied with that answer, then do not ask this question any further.

And those matters, within your framework of experience and belief, obviously seem very pertinent.

The meaning of "pertinent" here is very practical, a scientific question--whether UFOs exist, whether aliens exist, what an important question, right? It depends on which level you stand on when asking this question.

On the practical level, I can only give you one reminder: On June 15, the U.S. Congress released an official document and began to study UAP, which is equivalent to indirectly admitting the existence of UFOs5. But you just said, "Mike just said they both exist and do not exist"--if you cannot even understand this answer of mine, then you still need to go carefully read The "Unknown" Reality, and from the beginning carefully understand the meaning of this sentence.

You have already provided a great many varied explanations, and authors in many fields have written many books on such subjects.

Many authors have written these books, and none of it has much practical significance. Just read them as stories, just listen to the stories; it is not worth spending much more time researching them.

But now, the greater question is about the unknown reality of the psyche, and about, broadly speaking, the kind of humanity that perceives an Atlantis, a Bermuda Triangle, or a UFO in one way or another. Unless you ask deeper questions about your own selves, these other experiences will remain mysterious.

He said, as for the many books written by others, just look at them as other people's works. But the greater problem you now face is not the question of UFOs or Bermuda, but the problem of the unknown reality of your psyche. You have not sorted out this question of the psyche, nor have you sorted out yourself.

In other words, if you cannot perceive Atlantis, perceive Bermuda, perceive UFOs from another angle and in another way--if you are still using your three-dimensional cognition and perspective to understand them--then these questions have no practical meaning for you, and they will remain mysterious to you, because your cognition and understanding are still far behind.

Simply put, before humanity wants to explore those questions, it must first get clear about its own questions, and first get clear about these realities and these understandings concerning the psyche.

Unless you understand who is perceiving them, you cannot understand the realities that are perceived.

If you have not even figured out who is doing the perceiving, then how can you go about figuring out what you perceive? Who exactly is perceiving this thing? This is a very classic question.

You must learn more about the tendencies of your own consciousness before you are qualified to ask the truly appropriate questions about the reality you perceive.

You have to know why your consciousness focuses on these places. The tendencies of consciousness are the focus points of consciousness. When you can truly understand why your consciousness focuses here rather than there -- when you can truly understand it, and know what your consciousness is drawn by, what is pulling it and drawing its attention -- when you do not understand these things, you are not qualified to understand what the reality you perceive actually is, nor will you ask truly appropriate questions. Did he not say earlier that you have to ask appropriate questions? Here he points out how you can ask appropriate questions -- if you do not even understand your own consciousness, then there is no way you can ask a good question. And such questions are the key that guides you to explore the unknown reality. If you do not even have a question, how can you explore?

Then at this point he stopped and said: Are you tired? Jane said she was not tired. Then he continued.

There are many people who will give you answers to such questions.

There are many people who will tell you the answers, and they have written many books. Especially now, there are all kinds of so-called bloggers who speak with great confidence and paint dazzling pictures.

Those answers will fit the framework of beliefs that you have personally and collectively held for some time.

Those answers will suit your tastes quite well, because basically you have already, individually or collectively, held those beliefs for a period of time. What period? For example, good and evil, right and wrong, good and bad, the struggle between justice and evil. What is widely circulating right now is just these things, right? Earth is a prison, aliens control the Earth, they want to harvest human experience, and they keep us reincarnating endlessly on this planet, and they mainly harvest our experience... all kinds of mysterious organizations, full of evil struggles and wars. What are these? These are ways of feeding the beliefs we already have. Because we humans have just this kind of belief, just this kind of thinking -- that it is about fighting, about grabbing resources, and then other aliens come to Earth to grab resources. He has that kind of mentality, so all sorts of theories keep emerging endlessly.

If you can understand what Seth said in the previous session -- that even this Earth is not the kind of physical existence you think it is -- then are not these theories about grabbing resources very childish? I will not expand on this, because I have talked about it once before. I will just mention one last sentence here: all of that is utter nonsense, all this talk about aliens coming to Earth and somehow controlling humanity.

I have said before: if an alien civilization could achieve interstellar travel -- could travel on the scale of crossing galaxies, or even across star systems -- if it still had the same kind of good and evil, plundering, and fighting that humans have, if it were at that kind of level, then it could never get out at all. Why could it not get out? Because they would have killed each other off internally, they would have fallen into internal strife. A civilization that low could never break out of its own solar system.

Take us humans as an example: if our human consciousness and civilization cannot rise to another level, cannot form the level of consciousness in which all humanity is one family, in which we coexist and prosper together, if we humans cannot reach that stage -- just imagine, as science and technology develop, there is only one outcome for humanity: mutual slaughter. That is the only outcome. Because if we keep going according to this kind of belief and value system, then that will certainly be the result -- certainly control and possession. Perhaps by that time resources and energy will already be inexhaustible, because technological development will have solved those problems, but humans will still want to control others. At that level of civilization, no highly intelligent being could ever break out of the star system it is in, let alone break out of a space on the scale of its galaxy, starting at a hundred thousand light-years6.

So the point I am making to you is right here: this is humanity's narrow viewpoint, and it will produce this kind of viewpoint, and this viewpoint is very popular, because it satisfies people's tragic romanticism -- including Atlantis, which is also a product of tragic romanticism -- and also this fear, this most basic, bottom-level belief that people have held for a very long time. Just ignore those answers.

In this book, I have deliberately tried to lead you to see yourselves, and the world in which you dwell, in a larger and more expansive way.

Seth says that in this book, I will directly raise your dimension from the level of consciousness, letting you see from a higher and broader dimension and perspective what this whole world you inhabit is like. Everyone remember this: what is its core? "Larger and more expansive" is not stated more specifically, but to put it bluntly: let your consciousness leap out of your three-dimensional cognition, and look at this world from a higher angle.

Whether they talk about interstellar wars, interstellar alliances of civilizations, or star seeds, all of these things consider the problem from a three-dimensional angle -- limited resources, fighting over resources, ruling, occupying, controlling, all of that kind of thinking. So to put it bluntly, Seth is saying: what I am teaching in this book is not on the same level as those things. If you are looking for answers to those questions, then you may have come to the wrong place.

When I consider Atlantis or UFOs, and other such matters, I will consider them from a very different angle.

When you ask me about UFOs and Atlantis, I will only consider them from a different angle, not from the three-dimensional way of thinking that you humans use. So from his interpretation of Atlantis in the previous session, you can roughly understand how he considers these questions.

By that time, we will be familiar enough with the unknown reality to understand answers given in a different framework.

By then you will understand what the answers to such questions look like from different angles and different frameworks.

I have not divided this book into chapters, in order to further break down the idea of what a book should be. Nevertheless, different kinds of organization still exist. Any given portion of this book addresses several levels of consciousness at once.

He says, in order to prevent you from having a fixed concept of a book -- that a book must be divided into chapters, chapter one, chapter two -- he says this book of mine is not divided into chapters, I just go on session by session. Of course, in the middle it is roughly divided into three parts, but even that is very loose, not so emphasized. The core here is that it has an inner connection. Within this organization without chapters, there is actually an inner organization, depending on whether you can feel it. It has different kinds of organization -- remember, it is not just one organization, he has many organizations. The inner connectedness of this Seth material has a deeper organization and connection at the level of consciousness.

Any given portion of this book addresses several levels of consciousness at once. So you cannot simply understand it from one single level of consciousness.

The threads of this work are all interwoven. So the various parts of your consciousness are sent out, so to speak, on separate journeys of thought and imagination, yet these branch lines of travel are also related.

What he means is that when you read this Seth material, the different levels of your consciousness are all sent out, all brought into participation. Some levels of consciousness are thinking logically, some levels begin to imagine, and some levels begin to directly comprehend and perceive. These different levels of consciousness -- thought, imagination, perception -- are traveling separately, traveling within the book. Yet these branch lines of travel, their different lines of travel, when understanding the same portion of this material, will interweave together, and their interweaving is also related.

They are interwoven not only through the psychic organization I have already given in The "Unknown" Reality, but also because of the great unity within each reader's consciousness.

The process in which the contents of these different levels of consciousness interweave is not only because I have told you about the inner connectedness of this psychic organization, but also because there is a very great unity within each reader's consciousness. Although the different levels of consciousness have different understandings and cognitions of this material, within your consciousness they can be unified together.

Ruburt and Joseph have moved into a new place, but each reader has also arrived at a new position within the psyche. As you read it, each person begins a psychic pilgrimage through his or her own consciousness and experience, and no one can predict the destination of that pilgrimage.

What he means is that Ruburt and Joseph have moved into a new home, and each of you readers, by the time you finish reading this book, will also have arrived at a new position within your psyche. You will already be different from when you first began reading this book, just as he said in the previous session: you and the person who began this book are no longer the same person, you are already a new person.

This part is very profound. You see, Seth spent a long time discussing their buying a house and family trivialities, as if it were all just matters between the couple. But actually, as Teacher Xiyu said in the commentary behind it, it is not just that simple. If you only see that level -- seeing how they discussed buying a house, what to pay attention to, which feng shui is good and which is bad -- then you may only be able to see that level. If you can see a deeper level -- what level? Seth was actually using the whole process of the two of them buying a house, moving, and choosing as a metaphor and hint: we humans have also entered a new home of a new civilization. He already said something similar in the previous session, do you remember?

So in the first session after they moved into their new home, he discussed a very grand theme: what the future outcome of humanity is, what possibilities exist for humanity's future, why Atlantis is a blueprint for our human future, and so on. Why did he discuss this question right after moving into the new home? Teacher Xiyu will have a specific explanation later, so I will not repeat it here. I am connecting this part only to tell you: if you only understand the words and surface meaning of the Seth material, then you only understand its first layer. The content contained in its second and third layers behind it -- that depends on whether your wisdom and the perceptive ability of your consciousness can reach that layer.

So the feedback many people give me is that now many people are re-listening to the earlier Seth Speaks, or going back to listen to The Nature of Personal Reality and other earlier courses, and their biggest feeling is: "Wow, there are so many new things, I feel as if I am hearing them for the first time." At the time they felt they understood it too, so why do they have so many brand-new feelings when they look at it again? Why? It is because, without your noticing, after following this course all the way here, the perceptive ability and level of your consciousness are already completely different from when you first began. But this process is subtle and gradual, and there is no obvious marker saying at which point in time you gained something extra. But in the process of accumulating day by day, you are constantly iterating, updating, and upgrading.

To put it bluntly, it is like your software is upgrading -- your phone software has already upgraded from iOS 14 to iOS 15. After the upgrade, many of your abilities are naturally different. At this point, when you look back at the courses you first studied, you will have new feelings and new experiences, for no other reason than that your level of cognition is different. The hidden things you could not understand before, or did not see before, are now so obvious. You say, but I did not see them at the time -- because at that time your consciousness had not yet reached that level. Now you see them, very simply, because your consciousness has already risen.

He says you are a part of your unknown reality, and you are also a part of my unknown reality.

Seth says: I am a part of your unknown reality, and you are also a part of my unknown reality. That is indeed the case. You say, does he not know everything we do? No, the decision is in your hands. How would Seth know what you will choose next? Seth only knows that there are many possibilities -- a million possibilities, and which of those million possibilities you will choose, that he does not know. He can only say that you cannot jump out of those million possibilities, but what is the meaning of that? So your complete free will is in your own hands. Therefore, to Seth, you are also the unknown reality.

To some extent, our realities meet within these pages.

From a certain angle, you as Seth's unknown reality, and Seth as your unknown reality, when you read this The "Unknown" Reality, these two consciousnesses meet, they encounter each other. No matter through what means -- whether you are listening to the English, reading the English, or reading the Chinese, or reading the original, or listening to my commentary, or listening to someone else's commentary -- it does not matter, you have all made contact with Seth at this level of consciousness.

If you do not know yourself, you do not know your world, to a certain relative degree.

Be sure to remember, this is a relative degree, not absolute. Relatively speaking, if you do not know yourself, you do not know your world; if you do not know yourself, you do not know your husband, your wife, and your parents; if you do not know yourself, you do not know God; if you do not know yourself, you do not know nature.

If you do not joyfully travel the intimate inner landscape of the psyche, do not directly experience the originality of your life, but accept the labels others have pasted upon it, to that extent the unknown reality exists.

When you cannot accomplish the above -- cannot know yourself, cannot very joyfully travel through your inner world, that landscape of the psyche -- when you cannot do this with joy, when you cannot experience the originality of your life, then the unknown reality exists.

The originality of life means that seemingly ordinary life is different in every moment, in every instant, depending on what kind of awareness you bring to living it. Living with awareness is the best state of life experience. Many people will say: "But my life has no interest, it is very dull, I have not achieved great accomplishments, I have not made any contribution, I am just an unknown little person." Where is the problem? The problem is that you have not truly experienced it. When you experience it, you will not have that kind of cognition.

Do not accept the labels that others paste on it. Others say that having money is success, that being respected is something, and then you accept other people's viewpoints -- that is wrong. Others say this thing tastes terrible, so you do not eat it; others say durian stinks and cannot be eaten, so you do not eat it -- then you have missed out on one kind of experience. Whether durian stinks or not, you will only know after you eat it. This cannot be a label pasted on you by others.

To that extent, if you follow the above, your unknown reality exists. Otherwise, when you can know yourself, and can joyfully travel through your inner world and the world of the psyche, then for you, the unknown reality is all known.

The unknown reality exists as a challenge, as an exciting goal of endeavor.

Why does the unknown reality exist? It brings challenge to our lives, just like a challenge. Why do you travel to places you have never been? Because you have not been there, and for you that place is relatively unknown, so you feel excited, and that is why you are willing to travel. Same principle. One main purpose of the existence of the unknown reality is to bring us challenge, to give us an exciting goal.

And at the same time each person becomes consciously aware of intimate subjective feelings, and in this process of exploring the unknown reality, each person becomes very consciously aware of his or her own subjective feelings.

Do not cover over the daily face of your personal life with preconceived ideas about who you are, what you are, where you are, and why you are there.

Do not use those fixed ideas -- what others have told you about who you are, what you are, why you are there, what you came here to do -- these old existing concepts, these mainstream ideas in society, you must all cast them aside. If you carry these ideas given to you by others, and do not feel with your own awareness, then your daily life really will not be very interesting to you, because it is all given to you by others.

If you can experience every detail and every event in your life with your own real feelings and awareness, then your feelings will be very magical. You will discover the wonder of life.

You will be able to perceive the originality of any given moment.

Every moment is original, just as it exists, it is originally like this. When you can discover its originality, its magical quality will reveal itself.

Forget what people have told you about what time and space are.

Just throw away everything that others told you from childhood about what time is and what space is.

Refuse to accept any concepts that limit the scope of your natural nature.

Any concept that says you can only be like this, that the scope of your natural nature is limited -- any concept that limits your infinite potential, throw it all away. Your potential is infinite.

The unknown reality is you.

We are studying The "Unknown" Reality -- who is the unknown reality? You are that unknown reality, you yourself are that unknown reality.

Dictation ends, the book ends.

This book is finished. The final finishing touch: the unknown reality is you. The title of this book is The "Unknown" Reality, so it tells you what the unknown reality is -- the unknown reality is you.

Jane came out of trance very quickly, but her expression was very, very subdued. She was quite downcast, because the book was over, and in such a way -- they had just moved into their new home not long before.

Rob said: "That was a splendid dissertation." Then Jane said: "I think I would rather begin a new book than end one." She sat quietly, and Rob wrote: "I think she wanted to cry, but would not let herself." Jane was still very emotional -- when this book ended, she sat there wanting to cry, but was too embarrassed to cry.

Rob quickly changed the subject at this point, wanting to lighten the mood. He said: "I have a few questions I would like to ask, and I can discuss them before the break, and then I would like to add them to tonight's material, along with Seth's replies." He thought of three questions. First question: What are your feelings about this book being published in two volumes? Second question: In our terms of time, while you were transmitting The "Unknown" Reality through Jane over this period of more than a year, what other activities were you engaged in within other realities? Then he thought again: Why did you end The "Unknown" Reality right after we moved into this new house? The reason is quite obvious, but could you please comment on this point, and also talk about future work, so as to put Jane's mind at ease? He did indeed want to ask this, and he also wanted to keep Jane from being so sad.

Seth came back and said: I will answer your questions on Wednesday, but I have a few words to say. Then he began to discuss other matters. This was Seth's way of leading us to material beyond the book -- he discussed for a while the politics of Jane's psyche, their relationships with others through mail and telephone, and a kind of inner listening in which they had become deeply involved. Then he ended the night's work with a sentence that Rob considered related to his third question:

Now from my position to yours, I bid you a good evening. You can have all the books you want, when you want them, and at your own pace.

Seth actually answered his third question: he said, when you want the Seth material, or want more books, I can give you anything you want from my side, but at your own pace -- because after all you live in a three-dimensional world, and after all you have the limitations of time. There is no problem on my side. He gave Jane peace of mind.
