Bedrock Reality and the Clusters of Probabilities

Today let's continue sharing with everyone Session 712 of Volume 2 of Seth's book The "Unknown" Reality, titled "Your Bedrock Reality, and the Beauty of Probabilities, the Solar System, Space Travel, Neurological Alterations, and the Meeting of Consciousnesses." This session began on Wednesday, October 16, 1974, at 9:13 p.m.¹

At the beginning, Rob said that after dinner, Jane got a message from Seth, though she did not subjectively hear a voice, saying that this session would contain some material about clusters of probabilities. The attraction that exists between a reality and any given cluster of probabilities may have nothing at all to do with space-time. In our physical space-time, between a satellite and the planet it revolves around there is a gravitational pull, and there is also a distance of time and space. But in the world of probabilities no such problem exists, because it has no space-time quality.

For example, for any given reality, the closest probable satellite may be in a completely different universe altogether. When we say two realities are close, we do not mean they are close in space, nor do we mean they are close in time. We can only say that these two realities are relatively close in specific frequencies and specific attributes, but in space-time they may be extremely far apart, or not even in the same space-time at all, in different universes.

For that matter, you may find yourselves somewhat like your own brothers, outside rather than inside the universe you consider your own. Here he uses brothers to represent these probable yous. Have you entered the interior of the earth? No. But you feel you understand it very well, because you have explored its surface. But do you really understand this earth? To say you understand a sphere after understanding its surface — is that not somewhat overestimating yourself?

Your universe is only one of many. There are many universes, each creating its own probable versions. Each universe has many versions of itself, and that becomes infinitely many universes, each universe having infinitely many versions.

When you travel on the earth, you move around its outside. At least your idea of space travel also designs that kind of surface navigation. You feel as though you are sailing through the universe, but actually you are only traveling along the skin of the universe, never having entered into the interior of the universe.

Actually, the real space of the universe is all internal; it expands inward. But you insist on going outside to look for it. The outside of the universe is only something projected outward from your inner perception. You insist on believing that the thing you project is real, and instead of going inward to find its source, you go looking for its projection.

This is somewhat like watching a movie. The image the projector casts on the screen — we search for this universe on that image, look at the positions of the stars. The image changes, and as the image changes we perceive ourselves exploring different worlds. Actually, you are only exploring on that one flat plane; you have not gone anywhere. To truly explore this universe, you have to go back inside the projector and look at the source of the image.

You are like traveling on the surface of the universe. But earth travel is done by acknowledging the nature of its surface — you acknowledge that this earth is mainly this layer of surface, because humans all live on this surface, so the surface of the earth is very important, and you feel that exploring the surface of the earth is exploring the earth. However, when you think of traveling to other planets or other galaxies, the same kind of surface travel is also involved. You explore the surface of the moon and think you have traveled to the moon; you explore the surface of Mars and think you have explored Mars.

Your idea of space travel makes you travel around space rather than directly through space. Just like the example I gave just now, you have not directly entered this space. Space is inside the projector, but you go looking for the screen.

Let me use a vivid analogy so you can understand. For example, we watch many films of the universe taken by the Hubble telescope. The Hubble telescope is in orbit several hundred kilometers above the earth², its lens pointed outward photographing the entire universe. Its lens and core components have been upgraded several times³, and it photographs more and more clearly. You can search online for what the Hubble telescope has photographed — it is truly dreamlike, whether galaxies or nebulae, all breathtakingly beautiful.

But suppose you are at home, watching a documentary filmed by the Hubble telescope on your phone screen, and you say, "I am exploring the universe." Are you not then not exploring the universe? You are only exploring a flat image of this universe. When can you truly explore the universe? Suppose you could actually get to the Hubble telescope itself, and fly backward along the light rays coming back from the stars — from the material level, you could say you are exploring the universe. If you only watch a dome film shot by the Hubble telescope, looking up at a three-dimensional surround 3D movie in a room, and you feel you are exploring the universe — there is an essential difference between these two.

I use this example to illustrate that even the universe where the Hubble telescope is located, even this earth where we are, even those things it goes to explore — although from the material level they seem real, they are still on the surface of our consciousness. Our world is a world of consciousness; our space is the space of our conscious awareness; our universe is the universe of conscious awareness. When you go explore those things, you are actually only exploring on the surface of your conscious awareness, not entering into its interior.

Other Intelligences Within the Solar System

You also view your solar system through the perspective of your own time — which is relative. When you look outward into the universe, you say you are looking backward into time. When you look outward at this universe, what do you see? What you see is the light or electromagnetic signals emitted by those distant galaxies tens of thousands of years ago, millions of years ago, or even hundreds of millions of years ago, arriving at the earth. Although it arrives at the earth at this present moment and is seen by you, that light, from the perspective of human time, is from the past. So when you look outward at this universe, what you see is the past of time; you are, so to speak, looking backward into time. Of course, you can also look into the future.

Your coordinates make it impossible for you to recognize that even within your own solar system, there are indeed other intelligent beings still alive. Seth says there are — right within our solar system. However, you will never encounter them in your exterior reality, because you are not focused in the time period in which they exist. According to our human understanding, they existed in some past time period, but we cannot see them now.

Physically you may visit the same planet you live on — you can also go explore Mars, but you find that there is no life on Mars at all, because the time is not right. In the same way, other people visit your planet and get the same result. You say, why have aliens never visited earth? They have come too. When they look at our earth, it is likewise desolate and uninhabitable. This is a protection for humanity.

Even for the space you know, there is an entire remarkable inner dimension. The space you know, the space of our three-dimensional world, also has an inner dimension that you cannot perceive.

Outside your own galaxy, right next door to our galaxy, there are also intelligent beings. Theoretically, if your technology made great enough progress, you could visit them too, but it would involve a great deal of time. Others have explored the earth in that particular way — in the form of materialized spacecraft.

Yours is still a linear technology, developing along a single thread. Some intelligent beings have visited your earth, but what they found was not the world you know. That alien being came to earth and saw not our world, but another version of the earth. There is always feedback between probable systems. The dominant species in one system may appear in another as a strange remnant species. It came to another version of the earth, where humans might exist as an ancient or strange mode of existence. It might explore and find some ruins or very strange traces, but it cannot see humans, because humans are not in the same space-time as it. Although both are on the same earth, they are not in the same version of space-time.

The beings closest to your own kind of intelligence can indeed be found, but not by following the outer skin of space — only by penetrating through it can they be found.

If those alien beings' technology developed in the same linear way as human technology, to a certain degree they could build spacecraft approaching the speed of light and could visit earth, but after arriving at earth they would find no life, no civilization, no human existence — just like what we see when we go to Mars. What they see is another version of the probable earth.

This can be called a kind of protection for civilizations that develop along this linear technological path — the space-time they are in is not the same space-time we are in. The earth may still be that earth, but the version is not that version. This is like different encryption systems — the encryption systems of consciousness are different, and when looking across, the other side is a complete wasteland.

But if one day you can acquire the ability to traverse space-time, and master the ability to explore inward in multiple dimensions, you can discover these things — but the premise is that you can penetrate their skin and enter into their interior. That is to say, you must learn an inward exploration of consciousness, not an exploration of space. When you can truly one day understand that there is no space and no time, that so-called space and time are only the movement of consciousness, the travel of consciousness, the levels of consciousness, and the dimensions of consciousness, then you can truly understand what this universe is. Only exploration on that level of consciousness can allow you to discover those truly alien beings or highly intelligent beings. If you search on the movie screen, you will find nothing.

Inner Coordinates and Psychic Intersections

Once again, because of the inner coordinates having to do with the inner behavior of electrons — here Seth only touched on it briefly. What is the behavior of electrons? Electrons have spin. This is what he pointed to; it is actually similar to the pattern of quantum entanglement. The Pauli exclusion principle: the same quantum state cannot appear at the same time⁴. For example, if one electron is spin-up, the other electron coupled with it must be spin-down, regardless of how far apart these two electrons are, even if separated by tens of thousands of light-years. This has already been verified by science. The quantum communication we use today employs this technology⁵.

That is to say, when we explore inward, how do we explore? Is there a coordinate? He says there is. That inner coordinate — you can understand it as related to the motion behavior of electrons. In simple terms, it is actually a quantum state. When you travel inward, the coordinates are all determined by one quantum state after another, not by what we call material forms. It is not a physical coordinate; it is an inner coordinate.

If you understand this, then this kind of travel can be relatively speaking extremely fast, without the limitations of time and space, arriving instantly. The coordinates that can connect you with how many others of your own kind are related to psychic and psychological intersections. Those inner coordinates form a space-time framework completely different from our space-time framework. If we must give it a name, it can be understood as a space-time framework of consciousness.

All our travel is travel of consciousness. To be more precise, it is the focus of consciousness that travels. Actually, consciousness does not even travel; it is only the focus of consciousness that shifts, and you feel as though you are traveling.

Seth said he would like to give us a very simple example to illustrate what he means. For example, one day, Ruburt received a phone call from a woman in California in distress asking for help. Ruburt promised to send out healing, curative energy. After hanging up, Ruburt closed his eyes and imagined — remember this word. Many people do not know how to use this inner energy and keep asking, what do I do, what do I do, how do I use it. Remember, at the very beginning it must start from imagination. Keep thinking about it and it becomes real. That is what this means. You must bring into play the power of your imagination, because you have no other way — then Ruburt imagined an energy from a universal source passing through his body, sent out and directed toward that person seeking help.

When he did this, Ruburt saw in his mind's eye: there was a point between his two eyes, extending out a long and intense beam of light, shooting directly westward. Ruburt lived in New York State, on the east coast of the United States, while California is on the west coast of the United States, roughly five or six thousand kilometers apart⁶. That beam of light arrived unobstructed. He felt this extended line was composed of energy, and it looked so strong that a person could walk upon this energy without any difficulty.

He subjectively felt that this beam of energy reached that woman's location, and indeed it did. Afterwards they called this woman to verify, and the woman indeed felt that she suddenly felt much better. The energy crossed the continent almost instantly, from one specific person to another individual. Spanning a distance of nearly six thousand kilometers — the earth already has a curvature, but it passed directly through.

When you are dealing with that kind of energy, and especially when you believe in it, space does not matter. First you must believe in the existence of this energy; if you do not believe in it, it is useless. Then you must not care about the relationship of space. So many people ask, does remote healing, remote group meditation, remote energy interaction really happen? It really does happen. Space does not matter. An emotional connection was established, and they formed their own set of coordinates.

That energy beam was as strong and real as a steel girder, even though it moved faster than the speed of light. If Ruburt had tried to take a plane to see that woman, he would have had to follow the curve of the earth, but in that transmission just now, the energy passed through along the most direct line — "most direct" in quotation marks.

What does this "most direct" mean? His meaning is that this directness is not merely directness in geographical location. If you understand it according to space, you would certainly think it is the shortest distance, the most direct straight-line distance, as if this energy passed through the earth. But what Seth means by "most direct" is not only the aspect you understand. What he understands as "most direct" is the directness between the two of them that transcends space-time — there is no concept of space-time, no need to cross the curvature of the earth, arriving instantly. You can understand it as the closest frequency between the two of them, a coupling of two frequencies, or understand it as that kind of "directness" in quantum communication.

At this point Rob still would not give up. Rob wanted to ask: But did it not pass through the earth? This kind of inner transmission — does it not need to pass through the earth? Spanning five or six thousand kilometers, did it not pass through the earth?

So Seth repeated his last sentence three times. Important words are said three times. Which sentence? "The energy passed through along the most direct line" — said three times in a row. That was the answer he wanted to give.

Fulfillment in Time

Now in the same way, you can unite with and tune into other probabilities that coincide with your space-time axis. Just as Jane tuned into that woman, you can also tune into other space-times. Between space-time and space-time, between probability and probability, there are points of overlap. What is a point of overlap? Let me give a vivid example. This example is not necessarily perfectly reasonable, but it is vivid: before you and your significant other met, the two of you were in two completely parallel space-times. You had no idea he existed, and he had no idea you existed. Until one day the two of you met, and sparks flew — you took one look at each other and instantly clicked, and then your two space-times intersected. This is the intersection point of your two space-times. In a sense, the two of you had both aimed at that overlapping intersection point in inner space-time, both drawn by that intersection point, and then overlapped at such an intersection point. The exterior universe and the galaxies, as you understand them, and on that level of activity, can be contacted at certain fixed space-time coordinates. When two space-time axes have places of overlap, you can jump across here. To put it bluntly, this is somewhat like wormhole theory — two space-times make contact, there is an overlap point, and at this overlap point you can jump from this space-time to another space-time. Fold a piece of paper so that point A and point B overlap, push a pin through, and from point A to point B no distance is needed. That way of crossing space-time requires no distance.

But the premise is that this happens only within such probabilities where space-time axes coincide — you can only visit other planets in your present. This point is crucial. You can only visit at this present point; you cannot visit other planets at other times.

For the inhabitants of a given planet, your present may be their past or future. Your physical bodies or senses can only operate in their present or your present. In other words, when those space-time axes coincide, at that moment of meeting, you are within the same space-time axis, meaning you share the same present — only when its present is also your present can it operate.

On your part, effective creative space travel will not happen until you learn that your space-time system is a focus of consciousness. Otherwise, you will seem to visit one dead world after another, and you will not see the civilizations that may exist upon them.

We pilot spacecraft within our space-time system to explore other planets in the galaxy. Suppose one day technology develops enough that we can fly at the speed of light, and can put people into hibernation for hundreds or even tens of thousands of years — what would happen when we go explore other planets? The version you visit is the one in the same three-dimensional space-time coordinate system as the version we know, and in that coordinate system, that planet is a complete wasteland. Only when you enter their space-time, entering into such a probable world where space-times overlap and both you and they exist simultaneously, can you see those alien life forms.

If you learn to understand even the miraculous multidimensionality of your own physical structure — if you understand that our own material world itself is a manifestation of multidimensional existence, and allow your own consciousness greater freedom to explore those inner worlds beyond our traditional material world — then these difficulties in interstellar exploration can possibly be transcended. Otherwise, it is a chasm we cannot cross. If humanity keeps developing technology outward, we will never achieve the interstellar travel we imagine, because you are not in the same space-time as they are. No matter how far you travel, it is useless.

To a certain degree, you have already neurologically blinded yourself. You only accept a certain range of neural impulses as reality. Your nervous system can only accept pulses of a single frequency or specific frequencies; for other frequencies you can no longer sense them. Biologically you have given yourself a prejudice. The physical structure is innately capable of being aware of far more legitimate versions of reality than you allow it to be.

Your physical body is actually a broadband radio, but you forcibly turn it into a radio that can only receive one station. It is obviously a networked phone, yet you set it to airplane mode and then ask why it cannot connect to the internet. The phone is not broken; you only need to open settings, turn off airplane mode, and switch to networking mode, and you automatically connect with the universe. In terms of its hardware, our physical body is equipped with the ability to perceive, experience, and create in multidimensional space-time. It is far more powerful than we imagine; it is not just a small creature confined to Earth like other animals.

Theoretically speaking, in your era, a sufficiently educated space traveler landing on an unfamiliar planet should be able to adjust his own consciousness so that he perceives that planet in various different time sequences. Do not perceive it by our human, single, linear time standard. If you perceive it with human time, those events may already have become past and long-gone things; if you perceive it in a new time sequence, those lives may come alive again, vividly. This depends on your understanding and cognition of time—our time flow rate is different from someone else's time flow rate. According to our time flow rate, life on that planet may have ended hundreds of millions of years ago; if you adjust your time flow rate to match it, you may be able to sense that there is still other life on that planet.

If you land on an unfamiliar planet and discover volcanoes, you may realize that other parts of the planet may present different features. You have confidence in your ability to move through space, so you then may explore regions that were not visible at the initial landing point. If you did not understand changes in the nature of space, you might imagine that the whole planet would be one giant volcano; but because you know space can be crossed, you then go and explore other parts of the planet.

But you do not yet understand that, in another way, you can move through time just as you can move through space. And unless you understand that, you will not grasp the meaning of real travel, nor can you thoroughly explore any planet, any reality, including your own reality.

If you cannot move in time, you cannot explore other planets, nor can you explore other universes; you cannot even explore your own reality. If you are locked tightly into this space-time of yours, you can only explore the things within this physical space-time of yours. And this universe is obviously a multidimensional universe, but if you are locked into this little three-dimensional universe of yours, how can you explore the truth of this universe? Breaking out of the limitations of space-time is the first step in exploring your own reality and the reality of the entire universe. Whether you can break out of space-time—this is the most essential point.

Therefore, being able to travel in time is real travel; the meaning of real travel is being able to travel in time, crossing time just as one crosses space. Humanity discovered this long ago, so in our science fiction there are many time machines, machines that travel through time and space. In the previous session, Seth said that among the many potentials of humanity, sometimes they appear as a superhuman figure who appears in your world, such as Jesus, the Buddha, or those with superpowers who can see or fly; some manifest in this way; some are expressed in your literature, film, and television. Therefore, the appearance of time-space shuttles in our literature is not meaningless; it points out a developmental direction for us—only that kind of travel is real travel.

You imagine that your own Earth has already been mapped, and that all starting points are already known, but the linear aspect of your planet's life represents only the tiniest part of its reality.

On the Nature of Time and Multiple Realities

He said that actually you have only explored one very, very tiny part of this life-line of your Earth, namely the linear part. And this planet of ours, whether speaking of the planet itself or of the life upon the planet, does not occur linearly; it occurs in a manner similar to a matrix of probabilities. If you cannot see clearly the existence of this matrix, then you only look at this planet in a linear way, and you only see the tiniest part.

Some portion of the psyche reflects and creates certain portions of the universe -- the smallest up to the largest portions, particularly.

The Delayed-Sound Phenomenon: Experiencing Another Speed of Time

Last night at that ESP class, Ruburt received the effect of a kind of drawn-out sound. That drawn-out sound, as far as his nervous structure was concerned, seemed like information that was too slow. He was convinced that to translate the information he was receiving into a simple, clear passage would take several hours.

When Ruburt was teaching the ESP class, he came into contact with another state: he received a message, but that message was especially, especially slow, and he often had to spend several minutes just to produce a single syllable. The speed of that information was extremely slow, and if he wanted to translate it, even a small passage might take several hours. He also experienced some pressure -- each syllable, in terms of your time, dragged on so long that a single syllable spanned one or two minutes. Don't you think that's too long?

So much so that he had to slow down his own nervous operations in order to try to make certain appropriate adjustments -- he had to reduce the reaction speed of his own nervous system to adapt to that extremely slow transmission of information.

However, he made an adjustment: as the information came through, while he was receiving it, he simultaneously translated it into a more comfortable speed, one more familiar to his nerves. At this point Ruburt learned to receive that slow-speed information while at the same time transforming it into a faster speed that was more familiar to Ruburt's nerves.

This is very subtle, this thing is very subtle. One part of Ruburt was receiving that slow, drawn-out perception (he called it the "long-syllable phenomenon"), while another part was speeding them up to something close to a normal speech pattern, and as a result he did indeed speak some information -- he spoke out just a very small amount of information.

However, what Ruburt felt at this time was an entirely different reality -- another kind of flow of time in space and time. That space-time was already different from our space-time, and the time was already different.

He was beginning to recognize another non-native pattern of neural triggering. He discovered that his nerves also had this kind of ability -- to transmit information at such a slow speed. We think that the speed of our neural transmission is a relatively stable and fixed speed -- [scientists have discovered that our nerves transmit at a speed of several hundred kilometers per second⁷] -- it seems like several hundred kilometers per second, because how long is the human body, after all, so that neural transmission speed is very fast. At that time Ruburt discovered that his nerves also had this kind of transmission speed -- they could transmit in such a slow way, which he had not known before.

He was making himself familiar with perception under a different set of coordinate points -- he had entered another set of space-time coordinate points, and his nervous system had also changed.

This kind of activity automatically changes the nature of time in your experience.

This switching between different points of time caused it to automatically change the nature of the time in your experience -- time also changed for you, becoming especially, especially slow.

Moreover, this is an indication that your consciousness is intersecting with another kind of consciousness. He said that at this time your consciousness was beginning to intersect with another consciousness -- that is, the point of overlap in space and time that he mentioned earlier occurred right here. The kind of consciousness in that space-time is also different from our consciousness, and its speed is much slower than ours.

Biologically speaking, in material terms, the structure of your own physical body can operate at that kind of time speed. In terms of your body, in terms of your hardware, you can operate at very slow speeds and also at very fast speeds. So our bodies are quite remarkable -- they were not designed only to operate in response to our particular physical reality; they inherently possess a strong ability to operate at faster or slower relative speeds.

Although as a species you have trained yourselves to have different neural responses -- we certainly have a neural response that conforms to being human -- that does not mean you cannot respond in other modes of neural response. You can. However, by changing this kind of neural bias -- the speeds of these different biases are all different, and time is also different -- you can indeed learn to become aware of other realities that overlap with your own. Through this kind of change in consciousness and in neural bias, you can become aware of other realities that overlap with yours.

For example, the different kind of consciousness he just mentioned that comes through at an extremely slow speed. How does it operate? At this point the electrons are operating at a different speed -- here he put "speed" in quotation marks; it is not the speed we ordinarily understand, and you could also understand it as the electrons having a different mode of motion.

The structure of the atom as you perceive it, and its activity, is, broadly speaking, one probable version of an atom.

That is, the basic properties of the atom that we humans currently perceive -- the atom is like this, with protons and neutrons, and the electrons outside the nucleus moving in a certain way -- the properties of the atom that you perceive, this state, is only one of the many probable versions of the atom. When the atom operates according to other probable versions, then for you, in material terms, there are other different sensations.

So when Jane truly entered that very slow neural transmission of information, it was equivalent to the operating state of the electrons already being different, and the state of the atoms also being different, so the speed of your neural transmission was also different, and your perception of time was also different. The speed of your neural transmission directly affects your perception of time.

When your consciousness allies with the physical body, when your consciousness and the physical body are joined together, it follows the activity of the atoms, as they respond, in the way they appear within your reality system. Although your consciousness can operate in many modes, when it operates within this physical body, it must maintain consistency with the operating state of the atoms within this body in order to perceive the existence of this body, to direct this body, to operate this body. So consciousness has great abilities, but when it combines with the physical body, its abilities become very singular -- because it must conform to the properties of the atoms of this body, or the state of the atoms, it cannot perceive anything else. But this does not mean it lacks that ability; it is only that it over-identifies with the physical body.

Ruburt is learning to finely alter his experience of probable atomic associations.

Ruburt is learning to adjust and finely alter -- that is, to take that very slow thing and adjust its speed back to normal. Ruburt also has this ability -- it is very slow, but Ruburt can adjust it back. Interesting, isn't it!

These atomic associations exist as truly as the kind of atomic integrity that you usually perceive.

This kind of atom is very slow, and the operating state of the electrons is also different; we could call them very slow electrons, very slow atoms. This is actually just as real as the integrity we ordinarily understand -- it is simply atoms in a different state.

In your terms, as he does this, he alters the receptivity of the atoms.

When Ruburt made the adjustment, he adjusted the receptivity of the atoms -- this automatically brought the probabilities forward. When he adjusted the receptivity of the atoms, he brought the information of those probabilities into the state where he could perceive it.

To perceive other realities, you must change your own coordinates and align them with their system -- if you want to go to other realities to experience them, you must change your own coordinates and align them with the system of the reality you want to explore. And attract those to your focus -- only when you change the coordinates of your own inner consciousness and align the focus of your inner consciousness with the reality you want to explore can you attract the information of those realities into your focus. That is to say, let your focus overlap with that space-time, let the focus of your consciousness overlap with the space-time you want to explore on the inner coordinates, and at that time you will be able to sense what happens at that inner space-time focus -- that is, at the focus of that inner space of consciousness.

Seth's Reminder and Closing Words

Then Seth said, you may take a break, or we can end the session here. Then Rob said, let's continue, after a break.

Then Seth said:

Let Ruburt stay home and work, but it will also counteract too much inner spontaneity, until he knows he can indeed trust that new world of experience.

Seth said in this state let him stay home and work, don't go out, because at this time he is simultaneously experiencing the feeling of two different kinds of space-time. Like he is at home, but being at home may also limit a certain spontaneity of his -- what spontaneity? Until he knows he can indeed trust that new world of experience. That is, when Ruburt can trust that state of very slow long syllables, only then can he function normally in his world. Before that, Seth suggested he stay home, not go out.

My consciousness normally does not operate at the same speed as yours either.

Seth said my consciousness is not the same speed as yours either. So, in my terms, what I am saying now has long since been said, yet in your present it is new, just now received, just now reaching you.

He actually used this to re-emphasize the inconsistency of time he talked about tonight -- people in different reality spaces, or consciousnesses in different reality spaces, perceive time differently. Seth said, to you these may be things you just heard Ruburt transmit, but to me these are things already said long ago, only because our time is not connected, our time speeds are different, you are only now receiving it, but I already said it long ago.

Rob's Note: On Cosmic Expansion and the Measurement of Time

Then, let me see, there are a great many notes after this, so I will just speak briefly about them, because there is too much to say.

He says that in the early sessions, in Session 42, Seth said:

The universe is continuing to be created, just as everything is, it has always been building, it has never stopped.

What does this mean? It means that it is not as you imagine, that the universe came from the Big Bang, that at that one point of the Big Bang the universe was created, and afterward it simply kept continuing. For many reasons, then:

The expansion your scientists see is only a distortion. You see distortions, and the very beginning of your measurement of time established a camouflage. From the very beginning your time has been built upon camouflage, it is almost outrageous, inadequate, and it is bound to give distorted data.

He says this time of yours is extremely outrageous, inadequate, very distorted, especially large. He no longer knows how to describe it. Because your time is distorted, everything else you discuss afterward is also distorted.

Because the universe simply cannot be flaunted in that way.

You humans want to flaunt the universe, and that is simply wrong.

The universe was not created at any particular time, nor is it expanding into boundlessness like an ever-inflating balloon. At least it is not expanding in the direction now being considered. That expansion is an illusion, for among other reasons, it is based upon inadequate measurement of time and upon causal reasoning.

That is, the Big Bang, then it must be constantly expanding — this kind of causal reasoning. But in a certain sense, the universe can be said to be expanding, yet with an implication entirely different from the one usually used. In a certain way the universe is expanding, but it is not the kind of expansion in physical space that you understand.

He says the universe expands in the way a dream expands — if you want to understand how the universe expands, it is more like the expansion of a dream. And in a most basic way, it is more like the growth of a concept — the expansion of a thought, a thought that grows larger and larger within your mind, this is very much like the expansion of the universe, rather than expansion in physical space.

Then he starts saying more and more, and I will stop here, for this is all content from the early sessions, about time and the universe.

He sees atoms — this is also from the early sessions — the atoms you see do not grow larger in mass, nor do they expand outward into your space, and your universe is the same.

This sentence is one of very deep meaning. He says this atom will not grow into our world; it remains in its own world, and we coexist without disturbing one another. What other meaning is hidden in this sentence? The hidden meaning is, to put it plainly, the space-time in which atoms exist and our space-time are, from a certain angle, not even the same kind of space-time. You humans think an atom is merely a tiny particle of the physical world, but he says the atom is not at all what you understand it to be; it is not in your space-time, so how could it expand and occupy your space-time? Although it manifests — indeed our physical world is composed of atoms — it stays right at the position you think it occupies, it stays there, and it has no intention of further intruding into or occupying our space-time. This can only be grasped intuitively; beyond this it cannot be spoken.

He says your universe is also like this; your universe will not expand, and your universe will not encroach upon your space. Your space and the universe, the two are completely — the universe you think of, this physical universe you think of, and your world, these two are also in different space-times, one could say in different spaces of consciousness. So it is not as you think; it will not go outward — remember, this "will not go outward" means it will not enter our three-dimensional world.

But atoms do indeed exist in our three-dimensional world; this is a paradox. How are you to understand it? It exists in our three-dimensional world, yet it has not entered our three-dimensional world. I do not know how you can understand this sentence.

Seth's material in those early sessions — most of it from ten years earlier — reflects his response to the astronomical theories of that time concerning the state and fate of our physical universe. This is all material from over ten years ago, and he brings it out here. I explained earlier that because Rob was afraid the early sessions would not be published later, he wanted to put this material here. Well, we will not go on, because this content from the early sessions will in any case be discussed carefully later, and in detail, so to speak of it again here would be somewhat repetitive.

Note 2: The Difficulties of Time-Space Travel

He says Note 2 is Session 702, an example from a few sessions earlier:

He says if you originally intended to go on a space adventure, it is very possible that you will find you have traveled into another probable reality, and at first you will not know the difference.

The easiest mistake to make in time-space travel is this: you assume that you set out from this place, you have mastered the technology of time-space travel, you cross over into another reality space, arrive at an inner coordinate point of an inner universe, and go explore some galaxy. After you finish exploring, suppose you come back, but the Earth you return to at that point may already be another probable version, not the version you left. Not to mention that the version you went to is not necessarily that probable version either. Which version it actually is depends on you.

So the difficulty of time-space travel lies here: how can you position yourself precisely? How can you, within this inner space of consciousness, position yourself precisely through inner coordinates? This is an extremely difficult matter. Those of us who have had out-of-body experiences, or people who have had such experiences, feel this most keenly: at such times they are often passive, that is, they cannot be certain. It is very magical, but it seems as though you cannot decide where to go; you can only go wherever it takes you. How does it take you there? When you are out of body, how does it take you there? Sometimes, when you have practiced to the point of proficiency, you can control it through your intent, but in many cases it cannot be controlled at all; it just takes you there in an instant.

About UFOs and Other Realities

He says that in Seth Speaks, in 1971, he talked a bit more about this UFO issue. He says UFOs do not come from your own universe as you imagine; they come from other realities.

That is, we have always thought that these aliens and UFOs are within our own cosmic space, and why have we never discovered them? Many scientists raise this paradox: if aliens exist, then just like electromagnetic signals, we should be able to capture them quite easily. We humans have sent out so many radio signals, so why is it that with such precise instruments, we cannot capture a single meaningful signal? That defies common sense. Yet alien spacecraft keep exploring our planet—if alien spacecraft can come, if UFOs can come, then electrical signals and electromagnetic signals should come even more easily, so why have we so far not captured a single electromagnetic signal, yet we have captured these alien spacecraft?

Seth here tells you the answer: he says these do not come from your time and space; they come from other time-spaces. Therefore, it is perfectly normal that you cannot receive any signals in this time-space. So regarding this question, I think after listening to this session everyone will be able to understand—why our interstellar exploration, why our search for aliens, finds nothing at all.

Jane's Energy Transmission Experience

In his notes here, Rob talks about an incident. In this particular example, it refers to this -- Jane sent energy to a person on the West Coast. In this kind of case, the communication seemed to confirm the energy going out and coming in and hitting the target, and the person who received it said the result was very beneficial. That is, later they called this person, and they were able to get through by phone. After sending the energy that night, I don't know how much time had passed, he checked on it, and then that person said the result was very beneficial, the effect was very good. But Jane wasn't sure whether it was the energy she sent out that worked, or whether that person's own self played the role. Alright, let's not go on about that.

He says that a few days after the incident Seth described in this session, Jane had another experience of transmitting energy. At this time, she was lying on her side facing north, and she wanted to help a seriously ill person in a small town somewhere in Canada -- you see, Jane was still a person who liked to help others, using her energy to help other people. She felt the transmission shoot out from her forehead in a straight line, shooting toward the northern part of Canada -- because she was facing north, and Canada for her was to her north.

He says, however, because she was sleeping on her left side, she was physically uncomfortable, and after a while she turned over, and then that movement shut off the energy transmission -- because at this point she was already facing south. After she settled into sleeping on her right side, she felt the light go out again, but from the back of her head, still heading due north, shooting toward the target in Canada.

He says that when Jane was helping others, she often became aware of her energy units or something similar. Here -- at least with neutrinos, the word is neutrinos -- there is a thought-provoking similarity. Rob at this time kept wanting to solve this problem from a physical standpoint, and you can see Rob's persistence -- he kept saying, is this energy transmission really similar to the way neutrinos work?

Neutrinos have no mass, carry no electric charge, and almost never interact with any matter⁸, so they can pass directly through the Earth and even travel through the universe without losing any energy. Humanity has been using all kinds of methods to capture neutrinos, but it is indeed very difficult -- precisely because they carry no charge, it's very hard to capture them, and because they have no mass, it's even harder to capture them. They can penetrate all matter, so all the scientific instruments you make, they just pass right through, and you simply cannot detect their existence. Regarding neutrinos, you can look up some information online.

That's all for this part. His later notes are not important -- he says that when recording, several people made recordings, but it turned out that neither of the two people's recordings worked, neither of them recorded. Since they didn't record, he didn't say much more about it.

Review of the Long-Sound Event

Then it had this rapid effect. So last night, after Jane really tried hard to understand her reception of a long-sound material, Seth in particular said a few sentences. It was only then that we caught a glimpse of the so-called source of the long-sound material.

Because Jane told me:

From our physical viewpoint, to him, Seth's true reality sounds like a mountain -- it is that slow, that large, that powerful. I slow down, like a mountain, feeling the trees grow.

When Jane described that long-sound experience of hers -- it was only then that I truly understood that Seth's reality sounds like a mountain, extremely slow, like a mountain. Feeling the trees grow -- think of sensing a mountain in order to feel the trees growing on it; what an incredibly slow process that is.

Then he tried very hard to speed up his reception of Seth -- the speed was too slow, so that he could transmit it the way he was familiar with Seth, and then transmit that extremely slow material the way he was familiar with Seth. In this way, he gained a new insight into Seth and the environment in which he exists.

And from that much larger reality that encompasses it, Seth can in the blink of an eye follow a consciousness in our camouflage world, experiencing all its forms. Although that reality has this very slow attribute, it also has a fast attribute -- it can in the blink of an eye understand all the forms of our reality, understand all the forms of a consciousness in our camouflage world. So this fast and slow is only a matter of one's understanding of it, an understanding of that reality. At Seth's level, within Seth's reality, there is actually no longer any sensation of fast or slow, no longer any concept of fast and slow.

However, every time Jane tried to transmit the long-sound material, she had to start over again, and she controlled it very strictly -- I could see that, otherwise she would slip into an extremely slow transmission. That happened often -- at those times, she would spend several minutes struggling with a single syllable. For example, her tongue would stubbornly produce, laboriously produce the "verse" sound in "universe" -- she would spend several minutes just to say one "universe," like that. And even so, all she could produce was a long hissing sound built on the "s."

If you don't believe it, try saying the "s" sound for several minutes and see -- in the end it just becomes a hiss, with no sound left at all. So when you don't understand what the long-sound phenomenon is, this is the long-sound phenomenon.

As the session continued, Jane told the class that she kept the rhythm and speed of Seth's true reality on her left side, while on her right side, she accelerated it for our understanding. He said she placed this extremely, extremely slow rhythm and speed of Seth's true reality on her left side to receive it, while on her right side, she accelerated the information and transmitted it at her normal speed. He hoped he would produce a translation that people could understand -- he hoped he could transmit this extremely, extremely slow information and turn it into a word or a concept.

But I kept being pulled back into a more authentic expression of Seth's reality -- he never managed to transmit his words very effectively. It was too slow, so slow that in the end no one knew what he was saying. Try it yourself: if you slow down a normal human voice by one, two, three times, you can probably still roughly tell what the person is saying; if you slow down a human voice by ten times, you probably won't know what they're saying anymore; if you slow it down by a hundred times, just try it, you won't know what they're saying at all. Therefore, he could only manage to utter a few words at a time -- after stammering for a long while, he might only get out a few words.

He said now, let's talk about the unfortunate result I mentioned at the beginning of this note -- namely, their two tape recorders, one of which had problems all evening, and the other of which ran out of tape at exactly that moment:

Before he could successfully and consistently unite Seth's slow and long reality with the accelerated version we can normally hear, the tape ran out.

In the end, after Jane, following a very, very slow transmission, finally managed through an accelerated method to turn this very, very slow information into a speed that we humans could understand and speak it out, the tape recorder did not record it -- which means that in the end she herself did not know what Seth had said.

Then for a few minutes, she was able to speak for Seth about the environment he inhabits -- that is, the environment where Seth is, the material Seth transmitted that told him what their reality, where Seth is, is like. But since that material was not recorded, I have no way to excerpt it here. There was no recording, and Rob had not taken notes either -- when Rob attended the ESP class, Rob himself did not take notes; generally it was either recorded or other students took notes.

By that time the session was also nearly over:

I do not want to try to reconstruct Seth's words from memory.

But it should be said that the material in it was connected to Session 621. He said you can look at Session 621 in the appendix -- when we get to Session 621, in this appendix you can go and see it; he put this content in the appendix, and he would add another note later.

Of course, in Session 721, in a later collection, Seth did not at all directly say that during the previous night's session he had tried to express something about his own true reality -- that is, the content about what the world where Seth lives is really like. He said Seth never said it. Although it may seem strange, at the time I did not notice this -- during Session 721 I did not feel it, did not notice it -- and the two of us did not notice it for a long time after the session either. And whatever the reason, apart from a rather evasive mention at the end of Session 721, Seth chose only to discuss the whole matter from a fairly detached point of view.

That is, Seth felt that the things he had transmitted during that period about his reality were things he did not want to discuss again; he felt they were not important, so he did not speak of them again. But he took this event, this whole matter, and spoke of it from a higher perspective -- allowing Jane to understand that in different reality spaces, the flow of time is different, and the sensations of consciousness are also different; the nature and characteristics of different consciousnesses in different times and spaces are also different.

Therefore, the idea that we humans have that other beings must have consciousness very similar to human consciousness is very naive. When humans have been exploring space, they have always imagined that other intelligent beings or civilizations have consciousness similar to that of humans -- in fact, this idea itself is very naive.
