Approximately 150 individuals continuously record dreams and closed-eye imagery for 8 weeks, with 60 completing three nights of EEG with serial awakenings each; coding rules such as disappearance, identity transformation, and scale transformation are locked in advance, coded by raters blind to sleep stages. Using independent samples to test whether symbol categories predict sleep stages, meta-awareness, and brain activity, controlling for emotion, content frequency, culture, and prior training; also comparing within-person prediction vs. across-person prediction.
