Adjudicating experiment
Recruit about 120 people, half practitioners and half controls, and randomly train them to master or not master a set of artificial concept systems; then conduct ordinary speaking and trance speaking; separately score replication, paraphrase, and inference of known material, and include random targets unknown to both participants and on-site experimenters. Complete in about 6 months with 4 sessions per person; compare the influence of knowledge training on output and test whether unknown target information exceeds chance levels.

What it would overturn
Merely finding that output is constrained by existing knowledge does not overturn mainstream theory; if under blinded conditions there is repeatable transmission of unknown information, this would challenge the assumption that the information sources of verbal output are limited to normally acquired information.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
Knowledge-gap limitation of expression and gradual concept learning are consistent with ordinary language processing; “can translate but cannot explain” becomes a testable difference only after paraphrase and inference performance are separately defined.
