Research Program / Claims / outer-ego-10

The subconscious acts as a buffer zone, protecting the outer ego from the impact of true reality, because the outer ego is not yet able to withstand such direct experience.

潜意识作为缓冲地带,保护外在自我免受真实实相的冲击,因外在自我尚无法承受这种直接经验。

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
Approximately 240 participants complete randomized crossover tasks of low and high sensory load and different attention cueing conditions, measuring sensory gating, subjective overload, anxiety, and performance, with an additional ~80 undergoing fMRI; repeated measurements within 6 months. Use mediation models to test whether stronger filtering reduces overload, and validate the mechanism with intervention rather than mere correlation; project duration 12–18 months. If claiming to filter a true reality beyond ordinary senses, one must also specify independently verifiable information targets in advance; otherwise, only the protective function of sensory filtering can be tested.

Sensory Gating, Subjective Overload, and Adaptive Function: A Pre-registered Multimodal Study
What it would overturn
Ordinary sensory gating results are consistent with existing theory; only if the gating system is shown to block verifiable additional information sources would the mechanistic hypothesis that 'gating only modulates existing neural input and internal representations' be revised.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
The buffer metaphor resembles attention selection, inhibition, and gating, but it does not define the shielded content, thresholds, or protective mechanisms.
Note
Weaker filtering may increase interference or benefit certain tasks, so not all reductions in filtering should be presupposed as harming or bringing one closer to reality.
