Main experiment with approximately 300 participants: under time pressure and cognitive load, participants first give intuitive answers, then answer without time limit; evidence order and presentation intervals are manipulated, and accuracy, reaction time, temporal order judgments, and evidence accumulation models are used to compare holistic versus sequential processing over 3 months. Supplementary Question 2 may be a separate randomized trial of approximately 240 participants: daily 30-minute standardized "mental time" practice compared to sitting meditation relaxation for 8 consecutive weeks, with a 2-week baseline and 4-week follow-up; actigraphy, sleep diaries, and polysomnography on some nights measure actual sleep, along with fatigue scales and psychomotor vigilance tasks. Pre-registered superiority tests for reduced sleep duration and non-inferiority tests for daytime function, with ample sleep opportunity maintained and no active sleep restriction.

Intuitive Reasoning Under Temporal Constraints: A Pre-registered Test of Sequential and Holistic Processing

If temporal order can be shown to be independent of attention, memory, and evidence accumulation and to not affect intuitive information acquisition, this would correct the assumption that "intuitive processing remains constrained by input timing and neural processing time."
