Adjudicating experiment

Recruit approximately 1,000 adults. After a standardized mild provocation, randomly assign them to suppression, cognitive reappraisal, arousal reduction, assertive constructive expression, or safe cathartic activity. Compare proxy indicators of aggression, rumination, and physiological recovery, and follow up for 6 months. For studying war, additionally use a country-year panel to examine political repression and conflict, controlling for institutions, economics, and past wars; individual experiments cannot adjudicate the causes of national wars.
