If one does not dream, chemical excess substances that must be released accumulate in the physical body; otherwise physical mechanisms would be clogged by toxins.

若不做梦,物理体内会积聚必须被释放的化学过量物质,否则物理机制会被毒素堵塞。

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
First, a polysomnographic and timed-awakening study in about 100 participants, each for 4–6 nights, comparing three categories within the same sleep stage: dreaming with content recall, knowing one dreamed but not recalling content, and no experiential report; matching total sleep, microarousals, time of night, and medication; pre-specifying candidate metabolites and next-morning metabolomics; project about 18 months. Peripheral indicators can only screen, not represent brain clearance; independent observational validation can be performed in populations with clinical indications for cerebrospinal fluid sampling. A true causal adjudication requires a selective intervention that alters dream experience without altering sleep architecture, neuromodulators, or arousal; no mature paradigm currently exists.
Suggested paper title
Dream Reports and Metabolic Biomarkers Within Matched Sleep Stages: A Pre-registered Repeated-Measures Study
What it would overturn
If dream experience itself were proven necessary for clearing some harmful metabolite, it would revise the mechanistic model that 'clearance mainly depends on sleep physiology and does not require dream experience.'

Specificity of Seth's formulation
'Not dreaming necessarily accumulates harmful substances' is stronger than 'sleep promotes clearance' and is in principle distinguishable, but no chemical substance, accumulation threshold, or time scale is specified.
Note
The original claim remains untested directly; not remembering dreams does not mean no dreams, metabolic abnormalities from sleep deprivation cannot be attributed to dream absence, and methodological critiques of 2024 results exist in the clearance field.
