Adjudicating experiment
First clarify whether negative ions refer to airborne ions or specific endogenous anions. If airborne ions are selected, about 320 participants with frequent nightmares enter a 2×2 randomized trial: dream rehearsal training/matched control × ion exposure/sham exposure; ion concentration, ozone, temperature, and humidity are continuously recorded, along with sleep. Pre-registered first-night emotion and nightmare endpoints, intervention for 2 weeks, follow-up for 3 months; test using randomized main effects, interaction effects, and mediation analyses, not merely comparing pre- and post-treatment. This design only tests the airborne ion version and cannot validate an undefined endogenous 'electrical framework'.
