Adjudicating experiment

Approximately 300 people are randomly assigned to dream discussion, discussion of recent waking events, or general supportive discussion; the three groups are matched for duration and facilitator style. Weekly sessions over 8 weeks, with 3-month follow-up. The primary endpoint is the accuracy of prospective predictions about one's own emotional triggers and behaviors, assessed via daily ecological momentary assessment and blinded ratings by close acquaintances; insight and satisfaction are secondary endpoints. If 'deeper reality' involves external facts, independently verifiable predictions must be provided separately; it cannot be adjudicated by insight scores.

If dream discussion increases objective self-prediction accuracy, it would revise explanations attributing benefits solely to general support, narrative processing, and expectancy; this is not an already established unified mainstream conclusion.

'Helping to understand the self' substantially overlaps with dream-discussion hypotheses; 'deeper reality' has no verification criterion and no additional distinguishable prediction yet.
