First, define the measurable components as interoceptive attention, subjective vitality, and cognitive flexibility, rather than directly naming them vitality. Recruit approximately 180 art creators, randomly assigned to interoceptive attention training, external attention training, or expectancy-matched relaxation training, for 8 weeks with a 3-month follow-up. Before and after training, multiple improvisation sessions are conducted, recording high-density EEG, respiration, heart rate, movement, and eye tracking; pre-register source-space connectivity indices, and validate network localization in approximately 60 people using fMRI. Independent experts blindly rate the novelty and appropriateness of the works; additionally measure divergent thinking category switching, task-switching costs, and flexibility after controlling for output quantity. Use an intra-individual model to compare subjective creative peaks with ordinary creation, avoiding circularly defining the two by work ratings. To adjudicate the vitality mechanism, an independent observable measure that distinguishes it from attention, arousal, expectancy, and metabolism must also be specified a priori.
