Research Program / Claims / conscious-mind-1

The conscious mind continuously attempts to organize its beliefs, structuring them into patterns and sequences, and excluding ideas that contradict its overall belief system.

意识心会持续尝试整理其信念,把它们组织成模式与序列,并排除与其整体信念系统相矛盾的观念。

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
Pre-register recruitment of approximately 500 adults; first measure their interconnected belief networks, then randomly provide supportive, contradictory, and neutral evidence, cross-manipulating accuracy rewards and identity threat; record information selection, belief updating, and network consistency over 8 consecutive weeks. Compare out-of-sample predictions of Bayesian updating, confirmation bias, and consistency-maximization models to test whether the hypothesized holistic organizing mechanism has greater explanatory power than local biases.
Suggested paper title
Belief Network Reorganization and Selective Information Sampling: A Pre-registered Longitudinal Experiment
What it would overturn
Usually no need to overturn mainstream hypotheses, as selective exposure and consistency seeking are already incorporated into cognitive theories; if cross-domain unified organizing regularities are found, models that explain belief change solely through local updating would be revised.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
The description of confirmation bias and cognitive consistency has empirical correspondence, but no boundary conditions are given for when to reject versus accept counterevidence; the claims of 'continuous' and 'overall system' are stronger than current evidence and have not been fully validated.
Note
In this review, 'supported' refers only to operationalizable tendencies; 'untested' in the table indicates that no direct test of the full claim was found in this search, not proof that no one has studied it; experimental sample sizes are planned magnitudes and require further power analysis; 'who' does not imply endorsement by relevant scholars.
