Lesson 3

The Soul Is Not What You Think

The soul is not something waiting to be saved but the perceiving, creating you; the whole self and the inner senses are how it works.

This path is arranged by hand, not recommended by an algorithm. Concept entries are AI syntheses, the commentary is Mike's own teaching, original text appears only as excerpts, and the notes under "Think it over" are the editor's.

Read first

  • soul灵魂

  • whole self全我

The whole self is a dynamic, multidimensional gestalt of consciousness that transcends physical time and space, encompassing all of an individual's reincarnational personalities, probable selves, inner self, and subconscious.AI entry (cross-book synthesis)

  • inner senses内在感官

The inner senses are nonphysical organs of perception inherent in consciousness, used to perceive, manipulate, and create multidimensional, nonphysical reality.AI entry (cross-book synthesis)

Then read

  • Chapter 6The Nature of the Soul and Its PerceptionMike's commentary

This chapter first clarifies that the soul is not a static, singular, or immortalized self that a person possesses, but a constantly changing, creative entity, an open energy field composed of multiple personalities and greater than their sum. It then explains that the soul's perception does not depend on the physical senses and can directly experience psychic activity; this perception can be touched in dreams and deep sleep. Finally, it points out that turning inward is not about searching for the soul, but about experiencing what you are, and that intent matters more than words.

  • Chapter 7The Potential of the SoulMike's commentary

This chapter continues the previous chapter's explanation of the soul, discussing the soul's potential from the perspectives of image, projection, frequency, streams of consciousness, dreams, and the ego. In addition to the physical image, a person may, through intense emotion, project a nonphysical pseudo-material image; physical reality is only a frequency that consciousness tunes into, not the strongest reality. The individual stream of consciousness is only part of a larger river of consciousness, and in sleep and creative work a person may come into contact with other realities. The ego could originally perceive more broadly, but it is limited because people have put blinders on it.

Think it over

Decide for yourself whether each statement is right, then open the note.

  • The soul is a closed, unchanging system, issued at birth and collected at death.

    False

Seth calls the soul an "open system": it keeps expanding through experience; it is not a fixed possession.Editor

  • The inner senses are ways of perceiving you already use without noticing.

    True

The exercises in chapter 7 exist to make you notice them.Editor

Take it to Seth

“Seth, how can I tell whether I am using my outer senses or my inner senses at this moment?”
